Privacy Policy
TraderMemo is built so that your trading journal is yours alone. The short version: your trades, notes, screenshots and voice notes stay on your device and never reach us. We only handle the small amount of information needed to sign you in and bill your subscription, we never sell it, and you can delete it any time.
This policy explains what we collect, why, who helps us, how long we keep it, and your rights. "TraderMemo", "we" and "us" mean the operator of tradermemo.com.
Your journal stays on your device
Everything you put in your journal — trades, notes, ratings, screenshots, voice notes, prop accounts and your profile — is saved in your web browser's built-in storage on the device you're using. It is never uploaded to TraderMemo or anyone else. We don't keep a copy, so we can't see, recover or delete your journal for you.
- Your journal doesn't sync between devices or browsers.
- Clearing your browser's site data for tradermemo.com erases it. Use Backup → Download backup regularly and keep the file somewhere safe; you can restore it in any browser. Backup files are yours, and we never see them.
- Anyone who uses the same browser on the same device can open the journal, so on a shared computer use your own browser profile.
- Voice notes use your microphone only while you're recording, and the recording is stored in your browser like everything else.
What we collect
| Information | Why | Where it's kept |
|---|---|---|
| Your email address, and your name and profile photo if you sign in with Google or another provider | To create your account, sign you in and send sign-in codes | Our sign-in provider |
| Your account ID, the date your free trial started, your Stripe customer and subscription IDs, and your plan status and renewal date | To run your free trial and know whether your subscription is active | Our own small database |
| Your name, email, card details, billing country/postal code and payment history | To take payments, send receipts and prevent fraud. We never see your full card number. | Stripe, our payment processor |
| Technical data such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested | To deliver the site, keep it secure and block attacks | Our hosting and sign-in providers (standard security logs) |
| Anything you send us by email | To answer you | Our email inbox |
We don't use advertising, analytics trackers, tracking pixels or cross-site tracking, and we don't build profiles about you. The site's fonts are hosted on our own servers, so your browser doesn't contact Google or other font services.
How we use it, and our legal bases
- To provide the service you signed up for — your account, free trial and subscription (performance of a contract).
- To keep TraderMemo secure and working — preventing fraud, abuse and attacks (our legitimate interests).
- To meet legal duties — such as keeping payment and tax records (legal obligation).
We only email you about your account and billing — sign-in codes, receipts, a reminder before a free trial converts, and notices if a payment fails. We don't send marketing emails unless you ask for them.
Who we share it with
We don't sell or rent your personal information, and we don't share it for advertising. We only use a few trusted service providers, each limited to what they need to do their job and bound by contracts to protect your information:
- Hosting and security provider — runs the website, protects it from attacks and stores our small account database.
- Sign-in provider — handles sign-in, passwords and account security.
- Stripe (payment processor) — payments, receipts and fraud prevention. When you pay, Stripe also handles your information under its own privacy policy.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect our rights or users' safety, or as part of a sale or reorganization of the business (in which case this policy keeps applying to your information).
The Events tab shows economic calendar and earnings data that our server fetches from public sources (Forex Factory and Nasdaq). No information about you is sent to them.
How long we keep it
- Account and plan records: while your account exists. They're removed when you delete your account, except for the date your free trial started, linked to an anonymous account number (no name or email), which we keep for about 13 months so a free trial can't be restarted.
- Payment records: Stripe keeps transaction records for as long as tax and financial laws require (often several years), even after you delete your account.
- Server and security logs: kept by our hosting and sign-in providers for a limited time.
- Support emails: as long as needed to help you, then deleted.
- Your journal: on your device until you delete it — we never have it.
Deleting your data
To delete your account: open TraderMemo → Settings → Delete account. This immediately cancels any subscription (so you're never charged again), deletes your plan record from our database (keeping only your trial start date, as explained above), and deletes your sign-in account. It can't be undone.
To delete your journal: open Backup → Delete everything, or clear your browser's site data for tradermemo.com. Download a backup first if you want to keep a copy.
If you can't sign in, email support@tradermemo.com from your account's email address and we'll delete your account for you. Payment records that Stripe must keep by law are the only exception.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU and UK, or the CCPA in California), you may have the right to:
- know what personal information we have about you and get a copy of it,
- correct it,
- delete it,
- object to or restrict how we use it, and
- withdraw consent you've given.
To use any of these rights, email support@tradermemo.com. We may ask you to confirm the request from your account's email so we know it's really you, and we'll reply within 30 days (45 days where the law allows). We won't treat you differently for using your rights. We don't sell or share personal information, so there's nothing to opt out of — and we honor Global Privacy Control signals anyway. If you're in the EU or UK and unhappy with our answer, you can complain to your local data protection authority.
Where your information is processed
Our service providers operate in the United States and other countries. When information about people in the EU, UK or Switzerland is transferred, our providers rely on recognized safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
Security
Connections to TraderMemo are encrypted (HTTPS). Passwords are handled by our sign-in provider and card details by Stripe; we never store either. Because your journal never leaves your device, there's no journal data on our servers to be exposed. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach ever affects your personal information, we'll notify you as the law requires.
Children
TraderMemo is for adults. It isn't intended for anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect information from children. If you think a child has created an account, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date above. If a change is significant, we'll also let you know in the app or by email before it takes effect.
