FAQ

Earnings calendar questions

What is an earnings calendar?

An earnings calendar shows which public companies report their quarterly results on each day. Earnings often move a stock sharply, so traders check the calendar to know which names may be volatile, or to avoid holding positions through a report.

What do "before open" and "after close" mean?

Before open means the company releases its results before the US stock market opens at 9:30 AM Eastern. After close means it reports after the market closes at 4:00 PM Eastern, so the biggest price move usually comes in after-hours trading or at the next day's open. "Time not set" means the company hasn't confirmed a time yet.

What is the EPS estimate?

EPS (earnings per share) estimate is the average profit per share that analysts expect the company to report. Results above it are called a "beat" and results below it a "miss". Click any logo on the calendar to see its EPS estimate, last year's EPS for the same quarter and its market cap.

Where does the earnings data come from?

Earnings dates and estimates come from Nasdaq's public earnings calendar and are refreshed every 30 minutes. Companies sometimes move their report dates, so always confirm with the company's investor relations page before trading around a report.

Is this earnings calendar free?

Yes. It's completely free and you don't need an account. It's made by TraderMemo, a simple trading journal. Inside the journal, the Events tab also shows the US economic calendar and highlights earnings for symbols you trade.

Which companies are shown first?

Each day is split into before open, after close and time not set, and companies are sorted by market cap, so the biggest names come first. Busy days show the largest nine in each group, and you can tap "+ more" to see the rest.
