Hi all, I'm Michael.
I created TraderMemo because, honestly, I just wanted a simple trading journal.
Every journal I tried cost somewhere between $49.99 and $200 a month, and they were packed with features that weren't helping me become a better trader. More charts, more tabs, more settings. Less clarity.
A journal shouldn't cost this much.
Trading is already tough, and adding an extra expense just isn't it. $49.99 to $200 a month is literally another bill. And it hurt, seeing that expense sitting right there on top of my losses. The tool that was supposed to help me was just one more thing I was paying for while I was already down.
Eventually, I came to hate trading, and the whole industry around it. The fake "lambo" gurus. The expensive scanners. The pump-and-dumps. The journals promising they would make me profitable. The endless course sellers. It felt like everyone was making money except for me.
I was depressed, and I quit trading for a while.
Somewhere in that time away, I made myself a quiet promise: if I ever built something for traders, it would be cheap, transparent, and made for a trader just like me. Someone who's tired. Someone who's been burned. Someone who just wants a fair shot.
And oh boy, it turns out there are millions of us.
When I finally came back to trading, I cancelled every subscription and just focused on myself. I screenshotted every trade I took, saved it in a folder on my PC, and went through them all at the end of the month. That's when it hit me: holy, I was actually profitable. I just had a few bad losers every now and then that would knock me out for the month. It worked better than anything I'd paid for.
I stopped caring what other people thought and what everyone else was making. I stopped caring about the BS metrics that had me second-guessing every trade. I just didn't care anymore (cue the Vegeta meme). Then it finally clicked: none of that stuff mattered. Just trade, bro. Manage your risk, get your base hit, and leave.
It's been 7 years since, and I haven't looked back.
Not every month is green, and some weeks still sting. But I trade with a clear head now, and I actually enjoy it again. These days, my whole routine is simple: I look at my screenshot, spend a minute or two reviewing it, label the setup, and move on. That's it. It saves me so much time, it protects my mental clarity, and honestly? It kind of saved me too.
Haha, below are a few of my old futures trades from the good old days.
The problem? After a few months I had hundreds of screenshots. The folders filled up, everything was hard to find, and reviewing a single week meant digging through files with names like Screenshot (412).png.
Then I noticed something: a lot of other traders were doing the exact same thing. Screenshot the trade, review it later. Not because they didn't care about journaling, but because they were tired of paying for clutter too.
So I thought: why not build a journal that's just that? Keep every screenshot organized next to the trade it belongs to. Show the few numbers that actually matter. Remove all the junk nobody needs.
That's TraderMemo. Log a trade in seconds, paste your chart, write a quick note, and review your week in one clean place.
I built this journal as a reflection of myself. For the trader who's sat in front of their computer in tears because they just lost their rent money. For the prop firm trader who was this close to a payout and blew their funded account. For the trader grinding through a drawdown, still showing up, still reviewing their charts, still believing next week can be better.
If that's you, this is for you. Keep it simple, trade well, get your base hit, and move on.
I'm the most impatient person in the world. I'm anxious, I have a bit of ADHD, and this has been, by far, the hardest thing I've ever done. Yet somehow, I became profitable, and today I'm proud to call myself a full-time trader.
Thanks for being here. Keep going, and good trading.

P.S. Hey, since you read all the way down here: if trading is tough right now, feel free to tell me your story through support, and I might be able to give you a couple of months at half off.
I do have server costs to cover, so I can't promise anything, and I may not get to every message. But I trade too, so I know how hard this stuff is, and I genuinely don't mind helping out.
Just please don't abuse it. 🙂
